Our Story

Man And Machine LLC are excavating contractors specializing in excavation for electrical and plumbing trades. Our services include:

SITEWORK: For some of the larger tasks our rubber tire loader or combination machine, 130 or 200 series hoes, can and will get the job done. We also can provide trucks for on-site use or for stone and spoil removal. We can also provide a large single axle dump for working in those tight areas or a semi dump for the larger jobs. These machines work great for utility ducts, foundation cuts, and site plumbing.

TRENCHING: We offer a large range of trenchers, medium and large chain style ride on trenchers, or maybe an earth saw for cutting through asphalt, concrete, or typical Chicago fill, or maybe one of those sub-zero January day (this also usually does not require a saw cut). We also have a few Bobcat trencher attachments for those small quick jobs. We also have a small boring unit for making quick shots under islands, sidewalks, and driveways. Last, but not least, we have 12 inch buckets for the combo and the mini track hoes.

CONFINED EXCAVATION: This is one area we believe we are well equipped and well experienced, more so than our competition. We offer 2 sizes of minis for this type pf work, 9,000 lbs. and a 18,000 lbs. machine. One of the 9,000 lbs. minis has a removable cab and is very narrow. The 18,000 lbs. machine is a zero tail swing and has a Z boom. Each of these machines have a variety of bucket sizes. We will send a Bobcat with any one of these track hoes for moving spoils and stone at NO EXTRA CHARGE. These machines as a pair make for a great working combination. They are much quicker and safer than a traditional combination machine. I can say, with confidence, all of our operators are used to working under low ceilings and tight sides (against walls or surrounded by columns). We have worked in many tight working conditions such as: hospitals, schools, shopping plazas, even in high rises. One of our latest projects was the new Chicago Fire stadium.

POLES AND BASES: We have changed the way we auger holes. We equipped our track hoe with a high powered auger unit capable of auguring a 4 ft. diameter and 23 ft. deep hole (we have yet to have the need to go larger). We also stocked our Bobcats with new state of the art high powered augers. These augers have an amazing 5,000 lbs. of torque; much better than the standard 1,500 lbs. for setting poles we have gone to small off-road cranes. This has given us a larger load handling, as well as, a farther reach. Utility poles have become pricey due to hurricane Katrina and our price varies day to day. Sometimes the availability of utility poles can become an issue. Due to these issues we sometimes have used utility poles in stock. Please feel free to contact us with the pole specs that you need and we would be happy to give you a quote.

CABLE READY: We are now giving the option to our customers for us to perform your underground electrical work to your specifications or drawing specs. We will hand it over to you with a pull string or rope ready to pull. We are fully capable of doing duct banks, pour in place bases, pre-cast bases, and associated pipe work for the site lighting. This has been of great value to our customers. It gives them a chance to focus on getting the building off of the ground. We know that it can be hectic, due to mother nature and some unrealistic deadlines, but we can help make it happen.
